Police arraign three suspects over killing of ex-OGTV broadcaster, security guard

Three suspects arrested in connection with the alleged murder of former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said the suspects were scheduled to appear before Magistrate Court 3 on Monday.

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform members of the media that the three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Madam Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard will be arraigned today, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta,” Oluseyi said.

The arraignment follows the arrest of the suspects less than two weeks after the tragic killings at Oyesiku’s residence in Abeokuta.

Police had launched an investigation after residents reported suspicious activities around the deceased’s home. Detectives who visited the scene reportedly found signs of forced entry and a struggle.

Adetayo’s body was discovered at the security post, while Oyesiku was found dead inside the house. Her missing Lexus RX330 vehicle was later recovered during the investigation.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, investigators made a breakthrough after recovering a note inside the stolen vehicle. He said forensic analysis of the document led officers to the prime suspect.

Ojajuni identified the prime suspect as 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, who was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.

The police commissioner alleged that Philip confessed to coordinating the attack, claiming he acted out of grievances stemming from his previous employment as Oyesiku’s security guard.

“The suspect stated that he planned the attack to teach her a lesson,” Ojajuni said.

Police further alleged that the suspects overpowered Adetayo before using him to gain access to Oyesiku’s residence, where both victims were killed.

The command said intelligence-led and technical tracking operations later led to the recovery of the stolen Lexus RX330 in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

Investigators also recovered several exhibits linked to the case, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen.

The Ogun State Police Command said investigations are continuing to identify and prosecute anyone else connected with the crime, while stressing that the suspects remain entitled to due process under the law.
