Eight arrested for armed robbery, drug-related offences in Adamawa

Eight suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command over alleged involvement in armed robbery, illegal possession of weapons, and drug-related activities in Yola South Local Government Area.

The command said the suspects were picked up during a coordinated raid in the Yolde-Pate area of Yola, following what it described as credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected criminal network.

Police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the operation targeted locations within Shagari, Yolde-Pate, and Wuro Hausa communities, where the suspects were allegedly operating.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives carried out a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of eight suspects for criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and dealing in banned substances,” Nguroje said.

Those arrested were identified as Bawuro Mohammad (23), Hamza Hassan (18), Aliyu Abubakar (20), Alfa Abubakar (22), Fahat Hamma (20), Dahiru Usman (20), Ibrahim Samaila (22), and Jefe Jostine (25).

According to the police, dangerous weapons and suspected illicit substances were recovered during the operation, which authorities said was aimed at dismantling a local criminal network linked to violent crimes in the area.

The command added that the suspects were apprehended at different addresses across the affected communities as part of efforts to curb insecurity in the state.

Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has ordered a full investigation into the case and assured that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in line with the law.

Reiterating the command’s stance, Nguroje said the police remain committed to public safety, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face decisive action from security operatives.

Adamawa State Police Command said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security across Yola South Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
