A Nigerian pilgrim taking part in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage has reportedly died at Muzdalifah in Saudi Arabia after arriving from Arafat.
The deceased, said to be a native of Bauchi State, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday during the movement of pilgrims from Arafat to Muzdalifah.
According to Daily Trust, Saudi security personnel and emergency responders were seen removing the body from the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the pilgrim’s body was evacuated on a stretcher by Saudi police officers and members of a medical emergency team.
Two officials believed to be part of the Bauchi State pilgrims delegation were also seen accompanying the evacuation.
Authorities had yet to officially disclose the identity of the deceased at the time of filing this report, while the exact cause of death remained unknown.
The incident happened during one of the most strenuous phases of the Hajj exercise, where pilgrims move between sacred locations amid intense heat, long trekking distances, and large crowds.
