The Niger State Government has commenced the 2026 Hajj airlift, with the first batch of 345 intending pilgrims departing for Madinah, Saudi Arabia, from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna.

The pilgrims, comprising 227 men and 118 women from Chanchaga and Borgu Local Government Areas, departed late Monday aboard Flynas Airline, which took off at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Addressing the pilgrims before their departure, Governor Mohammed Umaru-Bago urged them to conduct themselves responsibly and represent the state positively while in Saudi Arabia.

He advised the pilgrims to remain cautious during the pilgrimage, saying they should avoid accepting items from strangers and ensure their personal belongings are secured.
The governor also encouraged them to remain healthy throughout the exercise.

“Drink enough water to stay hydrated and remember to pray for peace in Nigeria, Niger State, and your respective families while in the Holy Land,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the 2026 Amirul Hajj and Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations made for the pilgrimage.
He urged the pilgrims to be law-abiding throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

“Pilgrims should respect and obey the laws of Saudi Arabia during the pilgrimage,” Nuhu advised.
