Super Eagles defender, Emmanuel Fernandez, has expressed surprise at being named in the Scottish Premiership PFA Team of the Year, describing the recognition as unexpected after a season in which he only became a regular later on.
Fernandez was the sole Rangers player included in the selection, underlining his individual impact despite joining the Scottish side only last summer.
Reflecting on the achievement, the 24-year-old credited his teammates, coaching staff, and fellow players in the league for voting for him.
“It was a bit of a shock to be in the Team of the Year as I started playing a bit later in the season,” Fernandez told the club’s official website.
“To be named in it, I am so grateful to my teammates and the staff, as well as the other players in the league for voting for me.
“I didn’t expect it but to do it in my first season here, to get that recognition is a moment I won’t forget.”
Fernandez joined Rangers from League One side Peterborough United last summer and has gone on to score five goals in 23 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Light Blues.
