Ligue 1: Nantes hold Brest to 1-1 draw

Mostafa Mohamed gave FC Nantes an early lift in their Ligue 1 clash with Stade Brestois 29, scoring in the ninth minute with a composed left-footed strike from outside the box in a match that eventually ended 1–1.

The Egyptian forward reacted quickly to a square pass from Francis Coquelin, driving a low effort into the bottom corner to put Nantes in control.

His intelligent positioning up front immediately offered a direct outlet, constantly stretching Brest’s back line and forcing defenders into uncomfortable duels.

After the break, Mohamed continued to influence play beyond just scoring. In the 49th minute, he threaded a clever pass to Dehmaine Tabibou, whose effort from the centre was blocked.

Later in the second half, he created space on the right side of the box but saw another left-footed attempt denied in the 76th minute.

Overall, he finished the match with two shots, three aerial duels won, and five ball recoveries, highlighting both his attacking threat and his work rate in helping Nantes regain possession.

He also drew three fouls, helping his side ease pressure during Brest’s stronger spells.

His presence as an advanced reference point allowed Nantes to push higher up the pitch, with his off-the-ball runs between centre-backs disrupting Brest’s defensive structure and enabling Les Canaris to control key phases of the game before the late equaliser.

FC Nantes now turn their attention to a tough trip to Paris Saint-Germain, while Stade Brestois 29 will host RC Lens in their next league fixture.
