The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 42 personnel across Enugu State to provide security coverage for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination scheduled to begin nationwide.
According to the Enugu State Command, the deployment is aimed at ensuring a smooth, safe, and malpractice-free examination process across all accredited Computer-Based Test centres.
The command’s spokesperson, DSC Pamela Chukwu, explained that officers have been strategically assigned to examination venues, with additional mobile monitoring teams stationed across area commands to strengthen supervision.
She said each approved CBT centre will have at least two NSCDC operatives on ground throughout the examination period.
“The deployment is designed to guarantee a secure environment for candidates, examination officials, and all facilities involved,” Chukwu said.
“Our officers will also help prevent malpractice and any form of unauthorized access to examination centres.”
She added that the state commandant has directed personnel to maintain strict professionalism and vigilance, noting that unscheduled inspections will be carried out to ensure compliance with operational standards.
“The command leadership will be conducting surprise visits to centres to assess preparedness and ensure officers remain alert and effective in their duties,” she added.
The UTME, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is expected to hold from April 16 to April 25, with candidates writing the examination in scheduled CBT sessions lasting about two hours each.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting a credible and orderly examination process nationwide.
