Police arrest 146 suspects in Ogun security crackdown

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated security operation in Sagamu aimed at tackling crime and maintaining public order.

The operation, codenamed “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was led by the Sagamu Area Command in collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the raid followed consultations with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies to strengthen security coordination in the area.

“The intelligence-led operation was carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeting identified flashpoints where criminal elements were believed to be threatening public peace and safety,” the statement said.

Babaseyi noted that the operation involved a joint task force comprising personnel of the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.

“All suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.

Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution,” he added.
