We won’t tolerate indiscipline, NSCDC warns officers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has distributed a wide range of modern operational equipment to its state commands, with a stern warning against indiscipline among officers.

Commandant General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, made this known during the agency’s annual strategic meeting held at its national headquarters in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the corps’ spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, the equipment rollout is part of efforts to strengthen operations and improve service delivery nationwide.

Audi cautioned officers to maintain professionalism, stressing that misconduct would not be tolerated.

“The corps will not tolerate any act of indiscipline. Severe sanctions await any officer found wanting,” he warned.

The NSCDC boss also expressed appreciation to Bola Tinubu for the renewal of his tenure, describing it as a call to deepen operational effectiveness and consolidate ongoing reforms.

“This renewed mandate is a responsibility to intensify our efforts and ensure the highest standards of professionalism across all formations,” Audi said.

Highlighting achievements under his leadership, the Commandant General noted improvements in personnel welfare, including the resolution of salary arrears and long-delayed promotions, which he said have boosted morale within the corps.

He further outlined operational successes, particularly in tackling economic sabotage and protecting critical national assets.

“We have dismantled over 400 illegal refineries, made numerous arrests, and secured convictions against offenders involved in smuggling and illegal mining,” he stated.

As part of the initiative, each state command received a variety of tools, including drones for aerial surveillance, body cameras, night-vision goggles, protective gear, and digital monitoring devices to enhance real-time coordination.

Audi emphasised that the equipment must be used strictly for official purposes, warning that any misuse would attract disciplinary action.

“These resources are provided to ensure efficient service delivery. Any officer found misusing them will be dealt with decisively,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of training, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other security agencies, noting that these remain critical to addressing insecurity across the country.

The strategic meeting, which brought together commanders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, also reviewed the corps’ operational plans for the year, with a focus on aligning activities with national security priorities and achieving measurable results in the fight against crime and infrastructure vandalism.
