Police recover four stolen vehicles, arrest suspects in Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Kano State have recovered four stolen vehicles and arrested four suspects linked to separate car theft incidents.

The spokesperson for the command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the arrests followed intelligence-driven operations carried out by police operatives.

According to him, the operation was conducted in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Bakori.

Kiyawa explained that operatives of the Anti-Car Theft Unit intercepted a dark blue Hyundai Elantra at the Naibawa Flyover in Kano on March 7.

“The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Abuja, was being driven by Ibrahim Muhd, 29, from Minna in Niger State, and Ahmed Sani, 32, of Abuja.

The suspects were arrested and have confessed to the crime,” he said.
He added that on March 9, another suspect, Abdulkarim Mamman, 30, of Malali Quarters in Kaduna, was arrested with a Honda Civic along the Kwanar Dawaki axis of the Kano–Zaria Expressway.

According to the police, the suspect admitted stealing the vehicle from Karkasara Quarters in Kano.

Kiyawa further revealed that Yusuf Ali, 28, also from Kaduna, was arrested in connection with a silver Toyota Corolla stolen from Dutse in Jigawa State.
He added that a white Nissan Sunny, earlier stolen from a parking lot within Kano metropolis, was also recovered during the operation.
