The Jigawa State Hajj Welfare Board has confirmed that intending pilgrims from the state have successfully completed the compulsory medical screening required for participation in the 2026 Hajj in Mecca.
The Director-General of the board, Ahmad Labbo, announced this while briefing journalists on Saturday, noting that the screening marks a major milestone in the state’s preparations for the pilgrimage.
“We are pleased to confirm that the board has concluded the medical screening exercise for all intending pilgrims,” Labbo said.
“This is a crucial requirement, and we are satisfied that our pilgrims meet the necessary health standards for the journey.”
He explained that the screening was conducted by a team of medical professionals in line with the guidelines issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, adding that all the prospective pilgrims were found medically fit.
“The medical team carried out thorough checks, and we are happy that our pilgrims are healthy and ready for the spiritual exercise,” he added.
Labbo also disclosed that the board bore the full cost of the medical exercise to ensure that no intending pilgrim was financially burdened.
According to him, the board remains focused on putting all arrangements in place to ensure a seamless pilgrimage.
He commended the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, for providing the necessary support and resources to facilitate preparations.
“We appreciate the governor’s commitment to the welfare of our pilgrims and his continuous support to the board,” Labbo said. “His intervention has made it possible for us to carry out our responsibilities effectively.”
The director-general urged intending pilgrims to continue preparing spiritually and physically while complying with all instructions issued by the board.
“The board is determined to ensure a safe and successful Hajj for all our pilgrims,” he assured. “We will continue to provide updates as preparations progress.”
