PSG crush Metz 3-0, reclaim Ligue 1 top

Paris Saint-Germain capitalized on Lens’ earlier 3-2 defeat to Monaco, reclaiming the top spot in Ligue 1 with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Metz at the Parc des Princes.

Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, and Gonçalo Ramos all found the net for Luis Enrique’s side, giving PSG a two-point lead over Lens in the title race.

The scoring started almost instantly. Just three minutes in, Warren Zaire-Emery floated a perfectly timed ball over Metz’s defence, allowing Doue to race clear and slot past goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer in a one-on-one.

PSG’s dominance continued, and Metz seemed set for further punishment when Jean-Philippe Gbamin received a straight red card for a late challenge on Ramos.

However, a VAR review reduced the sending-off to a booking, keeping Metz a man up.

The visitors couldn’t hold out until halftime. In the third minute of first-half stoppage time, Ramos set up Barcola following Fischer’s parried attempt on a Lucas Hernandez flick-on from a corner, allowing the striker to nod home into an empty net.

Ramos then sealed the victory in the 77th minute, rifling a shot into the top corner from the left side of the box after being picked out by Hernandez. Warren Zaire-Emery nearly added a fourth but saw his low drive well saved by Fischer.

This win marked PSG’s first back-to-back home victories since their 3-1 loss at Rennes, stretching their winning streak at Parc des Princes to seven consecutive league games under Luis Enrique.

Zaire-Emery was once again pivotal, leading the match in touches (115), passes (98), accurate passes (93), and winning eight duels.

He also contributed two key chances, bringing his Ligue 1 assist tally for 2026 to three, his highest in any calendar year so far in the top flight.

Statistically, PSG dominated from start to finish, generating 2.13 expected goals (xG) from 17 attempts, while Metz managed just three off-target efforts worth 0.08 xG.

Luis Enrique’s side now look firmly in control at the top, sending a clear message to their rivals that the Ligue 1 title race is far from over.
