Paris Saint-Germain overturned a two-goal deficit to snatch a dramatic 3–2 victory over Monaco in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off clash.
The defending champions, who were pushed into the play-off round to secure a place in the last 16, were rocked early on as Folarin Balogun struck twice for their Ligue 1 rivals.
His goals came either side of a missed penalty by Vitinha, leaving PSG staring at a damaging defeat.
However, Désiré Doué sparked a remarkable turnaround for Luis Enrique’s side. Introduced in the 25th minute, the youngster made an instant impact by pulling one back moments after coming on.
He then played a key role in the equaliser, with his effort parried into the path of Achraf Hakimi, who made it 2–2 before the interval.
Monaco’s problems worsened early in the second half when Aleksandr Golovin was sent off for a reckless challenge, handing PSG a numerical advantage.
The visitors capitalised just after the hour mark, as Doué struck again to complete the comeback and give the holders a narrow first-leg lead.
The dramatic contest remains finely poised ahead of the return leg in Paris, with Monaco still very much in the tie despite their collapse.
