Olympique Lyonnais maintained their remarkable form with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over OGC Nice at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, marking their 13th consecutive win across all competitions.
The first half was cagey, with neither side dominating, though it was the visitors who created the earlier openings.
Mohamed Ali-Cho connected with a header from a corner, finding Kail Boudache in the six-yard box, but the substitute’s effort sailed over the bar. Ali-Cho then set up Sofiane Diop, only for the Lyon defender Clinton Mata to block the shot.
Just before half-time, Lyon struck the breakthrough. Pavel Sulc expertly held up play, waiting for support, before Abner delivered a cross that Sulc headed toward captain Corentin Tolisso, who outpaced Maxime Dupe to put the hosts ahead.
Nice started the second half with a chance for Tom Louchet, but a wall of defenders denied him, as Lyon grew more assured.
In the 65th minute, the Czech midfielder Sulc once again drove forward, evading his marker before sending a dangerous delivery into the box.
Noah Nartey showed composure and patience to find space and finish past Dupe, doubling Lyon’s lead.
Les Aiglons struggled to replicate their first-half intensity, registering just two second-half shots, while Lyon comfortably managed the closing stages.
The result sees Lyon secure their fourth clean sheet in five home league matches and move into sole possession of third place after Marseille’s defeat.
Nice remain 14th, six points clear of the relegation zone, having conceded 40 goals — the joint-second most in Ligue 1.
