Everton climbed into the Premier League’s top seven after staging a second-half comeback to beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage.
The Toffees turned the game around following an own goal by Fulham’s Bernd Leno, extending their unbeaten run to five league matches.
Everton started brightly, with Jake O’Brien heading against the post inside the opening ten minutes, but Fulham dominated the first half.
The home side took the lead in the 18th minute when Vitaliy Mykolenko inadvertently deflected Jordan Pickford’s save from Raul Jimenez into his own net.
Despite Fulham hitting the crossbar twice and creating several chances, Everton went into the break trailing by just one goal.
The visitors improved significantly after the interval. In the 75th minute, Mykolenko made amends by setting up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who slotted past Leno to level the score.
Eight minutes later, Everton completed their turnaround when Dewsbury-Hall’s corner forced Leno into punching the ball into his own net under pressure from O’Brien, handing Fulham their first home defeat in two months.
Everton’s recent resurgence under David Moyes has been built on resilience, particularly in away matches.
They have now gone five consecutive league games on the road without defeat—their longest such streak since a nine-match run between November 2020 and March 2021.
This is only Everton’s second comeback victory away from home over the last three Premier League seasons, with both wins coming against Fulham, including a 3-1 triumph in the corresponding fixture last season.
Fulham will regret failing to capitalize on their chances. They registered ten shots in the first half alone, generating an expected goals (xG) of 1.82, compared to Everton’s 0.74.
By full-time, Fulham’s xG rose slightly to 1.98, while Everton’s increased to 1.68, reflecting their clinical second-half display.
