The All Progressives Congress has once again placed its trust in the leadership and strategic expertise of Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, appointing him as Secretary of the Central Coordination Committee for the party’s 2026 National Convention.
The 73-member committee, formed by the APC National Working Committee, is tasked with overseeing preparations for the pivotal national convention that will chart the party’s future course.
Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was appointed Chairman of the committee, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman.
Yusuf Ali, Focal Person for Digital and Strategic Communications to Governor Buni, emphasized that the appointment “underscores his pivotal role in the internal stability, reforms and strategic coordination of the ruling party.”
Governor Buni currently chairs the APC Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation Committee, widely credited with strengthening cohesion across the party.
He also leads the Committee for the Review of the APC Constitution and the Expansion of the National Executive Committee, both critical to the party’s reform initiatives.
Recognized as one of APC’s most seasoned administrators and consensus builders, Buni brings a wealth of experience in party organisation, reconciliation, and institutional development, having previously chaired major national committees.
The formation of the Central Coordination Committee signals the official start of preparations for the 2026 National Convention, a landmark event expected to shape the APC’s leadership structure and strategic direction ahead of future elections.
Governor Buni’s prominent role in the process reflects his continued influence and trusted status within the party’s top decision-making circles.
