Barcelona has secured the future of another key first-team player, announcing on Friday that midfield ace, Fermin Lopez has agreed to extend his contract with the Spanish champions until 2031.
A product of the club’s renowned La Masia academy, the 22-year-old midfielder “has agreed to extend and improve his contract for a further two seasons up to 30 June 2031,” the club confirmed in a statement.
The new contract is expected to be officially signed in the coming days.
Since making his first-team debut in the 2023/24 season, Lopez has established himself as a vital presence in Barcelona’s lineup, amassing 113 appearances and netting 29 goals.
The attacking midfielder is also a consistent figure in Spain’s national squads and played a key role in the team’s march to the Euro 2024 title.
Lopez joins a growing list of Barcelona talents, including teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gavi, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsi, who have all signed contract extensions over the past year.
Looking ahead, Lopez will aim to help Hansi Flick’s side extend their lead at the top of La Liga, with a crucial clash against Elche on Saturday.
