FC Barcelona will return to the newly refurbished Spotify Camp Nou this week, with Athletic Club set to be the first team to visit the revamped stadium.
The Catalan giants have been away from their iconic home for more than a year due to extensive reconstruction under the Espai Barça project.
Throughout the upgrade period, Barcelona played their home matches at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the development on Monday via X, noting that “Barcelona will make their long-awaited return this week, with Athletic Club as the first visitors at the upgraded stadium.”
The occasion marks a significant milestone for the club, as supporters eagerly anticipate their first look at the modernised Camp Nou.
The clash with Athletic Club will serve as the official opening match of the renovated venue and is expected to attract a capacity crowd.
Further information on final preparations and scheduled pre-match activities is expected from the club in the coming hours.
PUNCH Online previously reported that Barcelona were forced to delay their planned August reopening due to licensing setbacks, pushing the return date further.
