Ligue 1: Endrick bags hattrick as Lyon sink Metz 5-2

Endrick delivered a sensational performance as Olympique Lyonnais powered past Metz 5-2 in an action-packed Ligue 1 encounter filled with flair, momentum swings, and attacking brilliance.

Lyon wasted no time asserting control, with Endrick opening the scoring in the 11th minute after a composed finish that set the tone for the evening.

The visitors doubled their advantage soon after when Ruben Kluivert struck in the 16th minute, capping off a slick attacking move that left Metz reeling. Lyon’s dominance continued, and Tyler Morton made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute with a well-taken effort following another sweeping team move.

Metz responded almost immediately, as Koffi Kouao took advantage of a rare defensive error to pull one back in the 34th minute.

Any hope of a comeback was dealt a heavy blow just before halftime, though, when Endrick struck again in stoppage time (45+1’), restoring Lyon’s three-goal cushion heading into the interval.

The hosts showed renewed determination after the restart and reduced the deficit in the 64th minute through Habib Diallo, briefly reigniting belief among the home supporters. Lyon, however, remained composed, controlling possession and slowing the game when required.

Endrick then put the contest to bed late on, calmly converting a penalty in the 87th minute to complete a superb hat-trick and crown a memorable night for both himself and his team.

The emphatic win underlines Lyon’s attacking strength and growing momentum in Ligue 1, while Metz are left with defensive questions to answer as they look ahead to their next fixtures.
