Nottingham Forest have officially registered Nigeria international Ola Aina in their UEFA Europa League squad.
The move comes ahead of the Tricky Trees’ final two fixtures in the league phase of the competition, giving Forest a boost in defensive options.
Aina, who plays as a full-back, is expected to make his Europa League debut when Forest face Portuguese side SC Braga on Thursday.
The 27-year-old had been sidelined since September due to a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty with the Super Eagles but returned to action earlier this month.
Since his comeback, Aina has started three of Forest’s last four matches across all competitions, showing signs of regaining full match fitness under manager Sean Dyche.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Angus Gunn has also been added to the squad, replacing the injured John Victor, ensuring Forest have sufficient cover in goal.
Forest will be eager to finish their group campaign strongly, and the inclusion of experienced internationals like Aina and Gunn could prove crucial as they look to secure a place in the knockout stages of Europe’s secondary club competition.
