Aina needs more time to recover from injury — Nottingham Forest coach

Nottingham Forest head coach, Sean Dyche, has said Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, still requires more time to fully recover from his injury.

Aina picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria in September and has since been sidelined.

The 29-year-old has been absent from Forest’s last 14 matches in all competitions and was also unavailable for Nigeria’s previous four 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures.

This week, Aina was spotted in training, offering fresh optimism about his impending return for Forest and a possible involvement in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations slated for December in Morocco.

Despite the encouraging signs, Dyche insists there will be no rush to bring the former Chelsea man back into the squad.

“Ola Aina is not on the grass with us yet, he’s still going to take a bit of time,” the Nottingham Forest boss told reporters during the pre-match press conference for their UEFA Europa League encounter against Malmo.
