EPL: Everton draw Wolves amid two dramatic red cards

Everton and Wolves played out a dramatic 1-1 draw at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Wednesday, a match overshadowed by two red cards for the visitors and a late goalkeeping heroics.

Michael Keane put Everton ahead in the 17th minute, redirecting Tim Iroegbunam’s low shot into the top corner after James Tarkowski cleverly kept a James Garner free-kick alive.

The Toffees nearly doubled their advantage when Keane met another Garner delivery, but the woodwork denied them.

Wolves responded after introducing Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 67th minute. Just two minutes later, the Norwegian’s pass found Mateus Mane, who calmly slotted the ball past Jordan Pickford to level the scores.

Mane, aged 18 years and 113 days, became the youngest Wolves player to score in consecutive Premier League matches, marking another milestone in the club’s history.

The game then descended into chaos. Keane saw red following a VAR review that judged him guilty of violent conduct for pulling Tolu Arokodare’s hair. Seven minutes later, Jack Grealish also received a straight red for sarcastically applauding referee Thomas Kirk.

Everton, reduced to nine men, held firm as Wolves pressed for a winner, with Pickford producing a stunning reflex save to deny Hugo Bueno’s curling effort in stoppage time.

Keane and Grealish’s dismissals marked the ninth occasion Everton have seen two players sent off in a Premier League match, the most by any club.

Keane also became only the fourth Toffee to score and receive a red card in the same Premier League game, joining Vinny Samways, Tim Cahill, and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.

Wolves, meanwhile, extended their unbeaten run to three games (W1 D2), collecting more points during this streak (five) than in their previous 22 Premier League fixtures (three).
