The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of Nollywood actress and producer, Allwell Ademola.
Entertainment industry sources confirmed on Saturday that Ademola, aged 43, died after reportedly suffering a heart attack at her residence. She was said to have been rushed to a hospital but did not survive.
News of her death sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans across social media, with several Nollywood stars expressing shock and disbelief.
Actress Faithia Williams took to Instagram to mourn her late colleague, writing, “Haaaa. This hit me so bad. Eniobanke. Allahu Akbar… Allwell.”
Popular actress Mide Martins also paid tribute, posting a photo of Ademola on Facebook with the caption, “BLACK SATURDAY… This is not fair. May God forgive your shortcomings, Allwell.”
Actor Damola Olatunji shared a candlelight image in her honour, simply writing, “Life is a mirage.”
Reacting in disbelief, actress Bidemi Kosoko questioned the reports, saying, “No way. No, no, no. Ko possible ooo. This isn’t true. God forbid, in Jesus’ name.”
She added, “I refuse to accept this. Olorun oni je. Just reply to my message, abeg, oremi. I will wait patiently.”
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by Ademola’s family regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
