NSCDC deploys 4,000 personnel to ensure safe yuletide in FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, has deployed 4,000 personnel across the territory to guarantee a peaceful Yuletide celebration.

FCT Commandant of the corps, Olusola Odumosu, ordered the deployment to safeguard lives and property, protect critical national assets, and maintain security before, during, and after the festive period.

The personnel, drawn from specialised units including the Arms Squad, Crack Squad, CNAI unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives unit, Female Strike Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, and Agro Rangers, have been strategically stationed across the FCT.

According to Monica Ojobi, NSCDC’s spokesperson, “Security presence has been strengthened at locations considered vulnerable, including churches, shopping malls, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, and facilities housing critical national assets.”

Odumosu warned against any lapses in duty. “All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of breaches; ensure your personnel comply adequately,” he said.

He also urged officers to conduct themselves professionally, cooperate with other security agencies, and strictly adhere to rules of engagement.

He further advised FCT residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or individuals promptly.

“My personnel are ready to ensure a peaceful celebration. You have a part to play too by being proactive, vigilant, and ready to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for our collective good,” Odumosu added.
