Chelsea sign Thiago Silva’s son Isago

Isago Silva, the son of former Brazil international Thiago Silva, has signed his first professional contract with Chelsea, the club where his father once starred, BBC Sport reports.

The 17-year-old defender joined the Chelsea academy alongside his younger brother, Iago Silva, when their father moved to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.

Thiago Silva, now 41, departed the Premier League side in 2024 for Fluminense after a decorated spell in England that included winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup in 2021. Despite this, Isago has stayed on at Chelsea, continuing his development within the club’s academy.

Having joined Chelsea at under-13 level, Isago made his debut for the Under-18s during the 2024-25 season.

Chelsea described him as having “developed into a versatile and reliable defender comfortable of operating at both left-back and centre-back.”

This season, he has featured in the club’s U17 and U18 Premier League Cup campaigns and was one of 33 academy players included in Chelsea’s Champions League squad for their home clash against Ajax in October.

Thiago Silva enjoyed a stellar international career, earning 113 caps for Brazil between 2008 and 2022.
