EPL: Newcastle shock Man City 2-1

Newcastle United secured a crucial 2-1 home victory over Manchester City in a tightly contested Premier League encounter.

The match began with the Magpies asserting control, creating chances through Nick Woltmade and Lewis Hall, though neither could find the back of the net.

Manchester City, led by Erling Haaland, responded with several threatening attempts, only to be denied repeatedly by Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope, who put in a series of standout saves.

The deadlock was broken in the 63rd minute when Harvey Barnes struck a stunning goal to put the hosts ahead.

Manchester City quickly responded, with Ruben Dias leveling the score just five minutes later. However, Barnes struck again in the 70th minute, netting the decisive goal that ultimately sealed the win for Newcastle.

Despite City’s efforts to turn the game around in the final stages, Newcastle held firm and claimed all three points.

The victory boosts Eddie Howe’s side to 20 points, keeping them firmly in contention near the top of the table, while Pep Guardiola’s side continues to search for consistency following this setback.
