UCL: Osimhen scores brace as Galatasaray beat Bodo/Glimt 3-1

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen fired Galatasaray to a 3-1 triumph over Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League, netting twice to hand the Turkish giants consecutive European victories after years of struggle on the continental stage.

The electric atmosphere inside RamsPark reached fever pitch within the opening minutes as Mario Lemina slipped a precise pass to Osimhen, who coolly slotted past Nikita Haikin to give Galatasaray an early lead.

The Norwegian visitors found themselves overwhelmed by Galatasaray’s tempo and Osimhen’s relentless pressing.

The Nigerian forward came close twice more, meeting Leroy Sané’s teasing deliveries, only to be denied by Haikin’s sharp reflexes.

Bodo/Glimt gradually began to see more of the ball midway through the first half, but despite brief spells of possession, they struggled to trouble Uğurcan Cakır in goal.

Osimhen remained a constant menace, testing Haikin again after capitalising on a poor clearance from Odin Bjortuft.

The Galatasaray crowd erupted once more in the 33rd minute when Osimhen punished Fredrik André Bjørkan’s dreadful backpass, rounding the goalkeeper before calmly rolling the ball into an empty net to double the lead.

Before halftime, Bodo/Glimt almost pulled one back—Jens Petter Hauge dragged a shot wide, and Sondre Brunstad Fet rattled the post with a powerful effort from distance.

After the restart, the visitors pushed forward in search of a response. Bjørkan’s driving run set up Sondre Auklend, but his effort was blocked.

Moments later, Galatasaray came close again through Osimhen and Yunus Akgun before Sané’s shot was parried away.

Their persistence paid off soon after as Osimhen forced a turnover on the edge of the area, teeing up Akgun to score on his second attempt and make it 3-0. Osimhen nearly grabbed his hat-trick late on but was thwarted twice by a combination of Haikin and Fredrik Sjovold.

Andreas Helmersen headed home a consolation goal for Bodo/Glimt in the 76th minute from Bjørkan’s cross, but it was too little, too late.

The victory marked Galatasaray’s 21st win in their last 23 matches across all competitions and continued their strong response to the opening-day defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

It also ended Bodo/Glimt’s five-game unbeaten run in European competition, leaving the Norwegians stranded on two points.
