The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 105 suspects and seized more than 5,000 illicit drugs during a large-scale raid aimed at curbing drug trafficking and abuse across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists at the Command’s headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
According to him, the coordinated operation, which covered several local government areas, was part of the Command’s intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in the distribution and consumption of hard drugs.
“Our men left no stone unturned in this operation. We combed every corner of the state to identify and arrest those dealing in narcotics,” Adam stated. “The Command is fully committed to eradicating the drug menace that threatens the peace and safety of our communities.”
He revealed that the police recovered a total of 2,541 tablets of Exol, 1,146 tablets of D5, 270 packets of Tramadol, and more than 1,000 wraps of cannabis, including a large block of the substance.
Other recovered items include 269 tablets of Diaxer, 153 Pregabalin capsules, 82 units of Farin Malam, Diazepam, Vegakris, Calidon, and several bottles of dry gin. The police also confiscated N92,460 in cash, as well as substances like rubber solution and “suck and die” used by addicts.
“This arrest sends a strong warning to all drug dealers and users that there is no hiding place in Jigawa State,” Adam warned. “Anyone found promoting or engaging in illicit drug activities will face the full wrath of the law.”
He commended the efforts of officers who participated in the operation and called on residents to support the Command’s anti-narcotics campaign by providing credible information on criminal activities.
“Our fight against drug trafficking is continuous,” he added. “We urge members of the public to join hands with the police to make Jigawa a drug-free state.”
The suspects, according to the police, are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
