UCL: Ramos’ goal hands PSG 2-1 win over Barcelona

Gonçalo Ramos struck deep into stoppage time to hand Paris Saint-Germain a dramatic 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday night.

The hosts had drawn first blood through Ferran Torres, who capped off Barcelona’s fast start as they sought revenge for last season’s Champions League quarterfinal defeat to the French side.

But PSG, missing key forwards Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, found a response before the break when teenage midfielder Senny Mayulu calmly equalised.

From then on, the reigning European champions dominated proceedings, carving out several chances in a one-sided second half.

Their persistence finally paid off when Achraf Hakimi delivered a precise cross that Ramos swept home in the dying minutes.

The late blow condemned Barcelona to their first defeat of the campaign, while PSG’s triumph, their third straight away win at Barça, lifted them to six points from two matches, keeping them level with Bayern Munich at the top of the league phase standings.
