Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban divorce after 19 years

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have gone their separate ways after nearly two decades of marriage, a source confirmed to the BBC.

The Hollywood star and the Australian country music icon, who tied the knot in June 2006, share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Reports of the split first surfaced on TMZ, which claimed the pair had been living apart since the summer. According to the outlet, Kidman is reluctant about the separation, a detail later echoed by a BBC source.

The reason behind their breakup remains unknown.

Both Kidman and Urban, who grew up in Australia before finding fame internationally, have been one of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated couples.

Their relationship weathered highs and lows, with public displays of affection on red carpets and award shows, as well as difficult moments behind the scenes.

Just months after their wedding, Urban entered rehab for drug and alcohol issues. Kidman, alongside close friends, staged an intervention, an experience the singer later credited with transforming his life.

“Everything was just designed, I believe, for that moment to fuse us together,” Urban said in a 2010 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

“I look back now and realize Nic has taught me so much and brought so much into my life and opened my eyes in so many ways,” he added. “[This is] the best place I’ve ever been.”

Despite reports of strain, the couple continued to make public appearances this year. In June, they were spotted at a FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee, and the month before, Kidman cheered on Urban as he received the prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award, with the pair photographed kissing and holding hands.

Kidman, who previously starred in Babygirl, was married to Tom Cruise for over a decade before their divorce in 2001. They share two children together.
