Dean Huijsen’s agent has revealed that the Real Madrid defender turned down a lucrative approach from Paris Saint-Germain before committing his future to the Spanish giants.
The highly-rated youngster, once on the books of Bournemouth, has quickly established himself as one of the standout centre-backs this season with his composure and defensive awareness.
But his journey could have taken a different direction in 2024, when PSG identified him as a priority signing.
Speaking to Real Madrid’s official website, Huijsen’s representative, Ali Barat, explained why his client chose Madrid over Paris.
“(PSG director) Luis Campos, as always, was among the first to recognise his potential.
“PSG was a real option (in 2024), but Dean believed he had a better chance of playing consistently at Bournemouth than in Paris.”
Barat further stressed that Huijsen’s decision was guided by long-term growth rather than financial incentives.
“At this level, decisions aren’t just based on the highest financial offer, but on the best possible career path. For Dean, Real Madrid represents the best choice for his future at this stage of his career,” he added.
