Substitute Youssef El-Arabi struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a dramatic 2-2 draw for Nantes against Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Rennes had seized control early, with first-half goals from striker Estéban Lepaul and midfielder Ludovic Blas putting the visitors ahead.
Nantes looked out of luck despite Junior Mwanga’s second-half reply, and the situation worsened when Matthis Abline’s stoppage-time penalty was brilliantly saved by Brice Samba.
Yet, Rennes’ sloppy clearance allowed a cross into the box, and the 38-year-old El-Arabi calmly converted to score his first goal for Nantes, earning a late point for the hosts.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Lille traveled to face northern rivals Lens, while Brest welcomed Nice.
On Sunday, Marseille is set to host fierce rivals Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Vélodrome, with heavy rain and storms forecasted in the region, which could impact the match.
