The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to an armed robbery and attempted murder incident that occurred in Lagos State last month.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday, describing it as a “major breakthrough” in ongoing efforts to tackle violent crimes.
According to him, operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended the suspects — 25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters — on September 11, 2025.
“During interrogation, Adewole admitted to attacking one Mr. Lil-Kesh, a resident of Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on August 19. The victim sustained a deep neck wound during the attack,” Haruna said.
He explained that the suspect forced the victim to transfer ₦2.12m to Muhammad’s bank account while under duress.
Haruna noted that the arrest was made possible through intelligence-led policing and cooperation from residents, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
“The command remains resolute in leveraging community partnerships and intelligence to outsmart criminal elements. The suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution,” he added.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, praised the officers for their diligence and urged the public to remain vigilant.
“We appreciate the support of the people of Kano and assure them of continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property,” Bakori said.
