Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has officially been crowned the 2024–25 Super Lig Golden Boot winner, wrapping up a remarkable debut season with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 26-year-old striker fired in an impressive 26 goals during the campaign, comfortably outpacing his nearest competitor, Krzysztof Piatek, by five goals, while Youssef En-Nesyri trailed six behind.

Osimhen’s scoring exploits not only earned him the league’s top scorer award but also played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s title-winning run, underlining his exceptional impact in his maiden season in Turkey.

Although it had long been anticipated that the Nigerian international would clinch the award, confirmation came following the conclusion of the Super Lig season on Sunday.

This triumph marks a significant milestone for the former Napoli frontman, who now belongs to an exclusive club of players to have won Golden Boots in two of Europe’s top-five leagues.

He previously led the Serie A scoring charts in the 2022–23 season, also with 26 goals—steering Napoli to their first league title in over three decades.

Osimhen also enters the history books as the first Nigerian ever to win the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot.

The Nigerian goal machine becomes only the fourth African player to achieve this feat in Turkey, joining Morocco’s Aatif Chahechouhe (2014), Senegal’s Mbaye Diagne (2019), and Gabon’s Aaron Boupendza (2021).

Osimhen is also one of three Nigerians to win a league Golden Boot this season, alongside Tolu Arokodare (Genk, Belgium) and Cyriel Dessers (Rangers, Scotland), in what has been a standout year for Nigerian strikers in Europe.

Despite his stellar season, uncertainty looms over Osimhen’s next move. Galatasaray are reportedly keen to retain him and are ready to activate his Napoli release clause.

However, interest from England, Italy, and Saudi Arabia has sparked widespread speculation.

Sources close to the club say Osimhen has been given until Friday to make a final decision on his future.
