Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star, Jeremie Frimpong, with the Dutch right-back putting pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2030.
The Premier League champions triggered Frimpong’s £29.5 million release clause to secure the 23-year-old’s services, bringing an end to weeks of speculation about his future.
Following the announcement, Frimpong couldn’t hide his excitement about the move to Merseyside.
“It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer,” he said.
“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.’”
Frimpong also shared a heartfelt message with the Liverpool faithful: “Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together,” he added. “I’m just excited to be here.
“Thank you guys for accepting me and I won’t let you guys down and I’ll give you the energy that you guys want.”
Frimpong joins Liverpool after a stellar season in the Bundesliga, where he played a key role in Leverkusen’s impressive campaign under manager Xabi Alonso.
