Lagos councilor seeks private support to alleviate poverty

Arsenal unveil Arsene Wenger's statue

The councilor representing Ward A3 in Lagos Island Local Government, Davies Adisa Qudus, has appealed to corporate bodies and well-meaning Nigerians to support government efforts in reducing poverty.

He made this call during his 5th empowerment program in Idumota, Lagos Island, where he distributed working tools and cash to over 100 constituents, including traders, artisans, the aged, widows, and students, according to TheNation.

Qudus emphasized that government alone cannot solve the poverty problem and urged traders to consider the impact of excessive price hikes on the community.

He also recognized individuals contributing to community development through award presentations, encouraging others to follow their example.

“I decided to assist about 100 members of my constituency across all segments of the society including traders, and artisans, with various working tools like barbing machines, hairdresser equipment, and sewing machines, while he gifted cash amounts to the aged, widows, and students,” Qudus said.

The Baba Adinni of Lagos State, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi Macfoy, commended Qudus for his commitment to community development and called on other councilors to emulate his efforts.
