The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission has announced that elections for chairmen and councillors in the state’s 21 local government councils will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
ADSIEC chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, said that notices of the election will be published at the commission’s headquarters and local government offices.
The timetable and schedule of activities for the exercise will be released within the next two weeks, according to Daily Post.
This development is significant for the state’s local government system, as it will lead to the election of new leaders to oversee the affairs of the councils.
The ADSIEC has urged all eligible voters to participate in the electoral process and ensure a peaceful and credible election.
“The Commission’s mandate to organise, conduct and supervise elections is in the fulfillment of the Constitution following the expiration of the tenure of the former council chairmen and councillors,” the ADSIEC chairman explained.
