The Social Democratic Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has stated that he will only consider joining a political alliance or coalition if there is a shared vision.
Adebayo emphasized that he prioritizes Nigeria’s progress over personal political gain.
He believes that the country’s previous administrations, including those of Presidents Bola Tinubu and Muhammadu Buhari, suffered due to lack of a common vision among alliance partners, according to Leadership.
The SDP candidate made it clear that he would rather remain in opposition than join a political structure without a shared goal. Instead, he focuses on building alliances with all Nigerians, particularly those suffering, to help them recognize the link between their votes and the current state of the country.
Adebayo’s stance is rooted in his commitment to meaningful change. He is open to collaborating with anyone who shares his vision for a better Nigeria, but refuses to compromise his values to gain power.
Adebayo’s leadership and empowerment initiatives have already made a positive impact. As a seasoned lawyer and founder of KAFTAN TV, he has sponsored nearly 2,000 young Nigerians in tertiary institutions and provided financial empowerment to many across the country.
By setting clear conditions for joining an alliance, Adebayo demonstrates his dedication to Nigeria’s future and his willingness to challenge the status quo.
The SDP candidate’s uncompromising stance on values and vision has sparked interest among Nigerians seeking genuine change. As the 2027 elections approach, Adebayo’s leadership and commitment to progress will likely continue to shape the national conversation.
He said, “There must be a meeting of the mind. Power for power sake is a disgrace. You can see what happened to the Buhari fiasco. You can see what’s happening to the bunch who are there now. The first thing to do is a meeting of the mind.
“If you want to run a bank, you cannot form alliances with those who want to loot the bank. What you do is to see how to change their mind. I have been going round, sympathising with them and giving my opinion.
“I am not against them. I am against their ideas or lack of ideas. It is not that we want to be in government at all cost. I rather not be in government than be useless in government.
” What we are trying to do is to build alliances of all Nigerians. If you look at the number of people who voted for the people who scored the first 3 largest bunch of votes, they are not up to a minority of minorities.
“What we are trying to do is to see the majority of Nigerians who are suffering and get them to realise that there is a link between how you voted, or who you listen to, and the effect you have now.
“If we can now have a realisation, if its President Tinubu himself who realises he is missing his way and wants to queue up behind us, we don’t mind at all, but I am not going to say for the sake of coming to power, I will go and join people who are running the country aground. It is better to have an alternative to remind people of what the government should look like,” he said.
