WWE: Nigerian wrestler Oba Femi defeats Lesnar at SummerSlam thriller

Nigerian wrestling star, Oba Femi, claimed the biggest victory of his WWE career on Saturday night, defeating former UFC and WWE champion Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam.

The Lagos-born powerhouse triumphed in the brutal encounter at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, marking a successful debut in WWE’s unforgiving Hell in a Cell stipulation.

Femi matched Lesnar’s intensity from the outset, enduring a barrage of punishment that included several German suplexes, a devastating Tombstone onto exposed wooden boards beneath the ring and repeated strikes with steel steps.

Despite the onslaught, the Nigerian battled back with two crushing chokeslams to stay in control.

The decisive moment came when Lesnar reached for a steel chair in a last attempt to regain the upper hand.

Femi responded with a thunderous right hand that sent the weapon flying before connecting with his trademark Fall From Grace to pin the former champion.

In a surprising post-match moment, Lesnar embraced Femi before addressing the crowd with a microphone, describing himself as the past of WWE and hailing the Nigerian as the company’s future.

Femi later admitted the gesture caught him off guard.

“The hug and public endorsement was definitely a shock, and I didn’t see that coming.

“I know that deep down, Brock has always respected me, and he knows that deep down, I respect him as well,” Femi said.

The victory caps a remarkable run for Femi, who first defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 in April before adding the 2026 King of the Ring crown to his growing list of achievements in June.

Saturday’s showdown brought an end to a fierce rivalry that stretched over several months after Lesnar returned from an apparent retirement to attack Femi, later avenging his WrestleMania defeat with a victory in their rematch at Clash in Italy.
