Sky Bet Championship side, Wrexham have publicly congratulated goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo after he reportedly earned his first invitation to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup.
Although the Nigeria Football Federation is yet to officially publish the squad list, Wrexham moved quickly to acknowledge the development, celebrating what is believed to be Okonkwo’s maiden call-up to the national team.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who previously represented England at youth level before switching allegiance to Nigeria, is now in line for a potential debut with the Super Eagles.
Wrexham marked the occasion on their official X handle, posting, “Congratulations to Arthur Okonkwo on receiving his first call up to the Nigeria squad ahead of the Unity Cup 👏.”
Okonkwo is expected to be part of the squad for the semi-final clash against the Zimbabwe national football team, scheduled for Tuesday, May 26.
The match will be held at The Valley, the home ground of Sky Bet Championship side Charlton Athletic.
In the other semi-final, India national football team will face Jamaica national football team at the same venue on Wednesday, May 27, with the final set for Saturday, May 30 at The Valley.
