Wolves agree £23.5m move for Super Eagles Arokodare

Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of completing a major transfer coup for Super Eagles and Genk striker, Tolu Arokodare, after striking a £23.5 million agreement with the Belgian outfit.

The Premier League side, who have been scouring the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, now look set to finally land their primary target.

Head coach, Vitor Pereira, had earlier pushed for a move for Getafe forward Uche Christantus, with both clubs agreeing a transfer fee.

However, talks collapsed after the parties failed to align on wage demands.

That setback reignited Wolves’ long-standing interest in Arokodare, who is now expected to fly into the United Kingdom within the next 24 hours to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical.

Confirming the breakthrough on social media, renowned football transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, shared on X, , “Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker. New important addition for Wolves.”

The striker’s imminent arrival could indirectly affect Newcastle United’s ongoing pursuit of Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The Magpies have already had two substantial bids, £50m and £55m, knocked back by Wolves, but are tipped to table a third offer despite strong resistance from the Midlands club.

While Wolves insist the Norwegian will not be leaving, reports suggested he will not feature in their Premier League clash with Everton this weekend due to uncertainty around his future.

Arokodare, who was previously linked with Manchester United earlier in the transfer window, comes off the back of a brilliant 2024/25 season in which he netted 23 goals and provided seven assists for Genk.

His exploits sparked interest from several European heavyweights, including AC Milan, Napoli, and United, but Wolves appear to have won the race for his signature.

The Molineux outfit are expected to partly finance the deal with the funds generated from Fabio Silva’s recent switch to Borussia Dortmund, a transfer worth more than £20 million.
