W’Cup: Ancelotti laments Brazil draw against Morocco

Brazil head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed disappointment following his side’s 1-1 draw against Morocco in their opening Group C match at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Seleção were forced to settle for a point after an entertaining encounter against the North Africans.

Morocco struck first when Brahim Diaz carved open the Brazil defence with a perfectly-weighted through pass for Ismael Saibari, who calmly lifted the ball over advancing goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Brazil responded in the 32nd minute through Vinicius Jr. The winger received a pass from Bruno Guimaraes on the left side of the penalty area before cutting inside and unleashing a fierce right-footed strike past Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti admitted his team struggled to get going in the early stages of the match.

“I think we didn’t start very well, I’m a little worried. We lost a lot of duels and possession, but we improved in the second half of a difficult match, because Morocco is a good team,” Ancelotti was quoted by FIFA.com.

“In the first half, we had difficulty getting out of the pressure, we could have had more control. [Was I] Satisfied? Not really. I expected a better start. But things can happen. Now I’m going to focus on the next game.”

Brazil will take on Haiti in their second Group C fixture at the Philadelphia Stadium on Saturday, June 20, while Morocco face Scotland in their next game.
