Warri Wolves emerged as champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria National League season after edging Wikki Tourists 3-2 in a thrilling Super 8 final held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday.
The Seasiders came out firing, asserting their dominance early and finding the back of the net three times within the opening 25 minutes.
Yusuf Abdullateef broke the deadlock in the 7th minute, handing Warri Wolves a dream start.
Nine minutes later, Abdullateef turned provider, delivering a perfect assist for Igbunu Evwierhurhoma to double the lead.
Joshua Shemaye then added a third in the 25th minute, putting Napoleon Aloma’s men firmly in control of the contest.
Wikki Tourists, however, refused to go down without a fight. Mamuda Aliyu pulled one back in the 35th minute to spark hopes of a comeback.
Those hopes gained momentum when Wonderson Yakubu struck in the 59th minute to further reduce the deficit.
Despite Wikki Tourists’ late pressure, Warri Wolves held their nerve to seal a well-earned victory and secure the NNL title.
