US streamer Kai Cenat takes break from social media amid breakup controversy

American streamer, Kai Cenat, has revealed that he is stepping back from social media after weeks of controversy linked to his breakup with content creator Gabrielle Alayah.

In an emotional message shared on his Instagram story, the 24-year-old addressed the rumours and speculation that followed the end of their relationship.

“I just want to say this from my heart. It can be confusing to see news about me and the people around me that isn’t true,” he wrote.

Cenat noted that he has opened up much of his life to the public over the years, but admitted that the attention on his private affairs has become overwhelming.

“I’ve been sharing my life online for a long time now and know that once you share aspects of your life with the world, it can be hard to keep things private,” he said.

He apologised for not speaking earlier, explaining that he needed time away from social media to process everything.

“There have been rumours, speculations and comments made about my previous relationship and my friends. I want to apologise for not addressing things sooner, but I needed to take a step back from social media and process everything.”

The streamer emphasised that the situation should have been handled privately and urged fans not to be distracted by online narratives.

“People react to things in different ways. It is an emotional time and should have been handled privately,” he wrote.

He added that any important message would always come directly from him.

“If there’s ever something important, something real for me to address or say, you will hear it directly from me. You’ll always hear it from me. Don’t let all the noise distract from that. This applies to everything in my life. My relationships, my businesses, my streams, everything.”

Cenat concluded by wishing Alayah well and asked the public to respect both parties.

Breakup confirmation
Cenat first confirmed the split in late December 2025. On December 27, he announced on X, formerly Twitter, that he was single.

“I’m single, I will never be in another relationship again,” he wrote at the time.

The pair had gone public with their relationship in late 2024 around Cenat’s 23rd birthday and were frequently seen together during livestreams.

Rumours and allegations
After the breakup announcement, speculation quickly spread across social media. Some users alleged infidelity and linked Alayah to rapper NBA YoungBoy.

The situation intensified when Cenat’s assistant, Brianna Lewis, claimed Alayah had been communicating with another man during the relationship.

Alayah denied the allegations and said she was the one who ended the relationship.

In January, she released a nearly 90-minute YouTube video titled The Real, where she disputed the authenticity of the alleged messages and offered to submit her devices for verification.

She also rejected rumours connecting her romantically to NBA YoungBoy, denying claims that she received gifts from him or was pregnant.

In the same video, she accused Cenat’s assistant of crossing professional boundaries during the relationship, although Lewis insisted the materials she shared were genuine.

Alayah further alleged that Cenat had been unfaithful earlier in the relationship, claiming he was once caught with another woman at his home.

Since the cheating claims surfaced and the leaked messages were circulated by Cenat’s assistant, this marks the first time the streamer has publicly addressed the relationship.
