President Donald Trump of the United States has warned that any nation supplying weapons to Iran would face a 50 percent tariff “without exemptions.”
Trump made the declaration in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, following a ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran the previous night.
He wrote, “A country supplying military weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!”
In another post on Wednesday, Trump addressed Iran’s nuclear program, stating that “there will be no enrichment of Uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust.’”
He added, “The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has gone through what will be a very productive Regime Change!”
The announcement follows Trump’s decision to pull back from previously threatening devastating strikes on Iran, a nation he has long accused of pursuing nuclear weapons.
The two-week ceasefire deal includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping lane for oil, marking a key step in resolving the nearly six-week-long conflict.
In June 2025, US forces targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities, Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, using powerful bunker-busting bombs dropped from B-2 stealth bombers.
At the time, Trump claimed the strikes “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capability and delayed its program by decades, though the precise extent of the damage remains unclear.
Before last year’s attacks, Iran was enriching uranium to 60 percent, far exceeding civilian reactor requirements and approaching the 90 percent needed for nuclear weapons.
While Western powers and Israel have accused Tehran of seeking atomic arms, Iran has consistently denied the claim.
Trump further said that engagement with Iran would include “talking Tariff and Sanctions relief with Iran,” but cautioned that countries supplying military weapons to Tehran would face the 50-percent tariffs “effective immediately.”
Iranian state media reported that Tehran’s proposal includes lifting sanctions harming the country’s economy and demands that the United States accept Iran’s uranium enrichment, a condition at stark odds with Washington’s official stance.
