Tom Holland opens up on new Spide-Man movie with wife Zendaya

Actor Tom Holland has spoken about the unique experience of starring alongside his wife, Zendaya, as complete strangers in the upcoming Marvel film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Holland said the new storyline offered both actors an opportunity to approach their long-running characters from a fresh perspective after portraying Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones for more than a decade.

“It was really fun. We’ve played these characters for 10 years, and we’ve loved every minute of it. Anytime you’re playing a character, there’s always something new and fresh you can bring to the table,” Holland said.

The actor also praised Zendaya’s talent, describing her as someone who elevates every scene she appears in.

“The truth is that she raises the game. She’s the type of actress where every scene is better when she’s in it. She raises the stakes for everyone, and any time I get to share the screen with her, I feel very lucky,” he added.

Holland revealed that their relationship off-screen allowed them to communicate openly during production, saying they were comfortable approaching director Destin Daniel Cretton whenever they believed a scene needed greater emotional depth.

“Because of the trust we have, we could honestly tell the director when we felt a scene wasn’t landing emotionally, and we worked together to make it stronger,” he said.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues the story after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker and MJ are forced to reconnect as strangers following the erasure of Peter’s identity from everyone’s memory.

The film is expected to introduce a new chapter in the Spider-Man franchise while exploring the emotional consequences of the previous installment.
