Super Falcons’ Ayinde joins Swedish club BK Häcken

Super Falcons midfielder, Halimat Ayinde, has sealed a move to Swedish Damallsvenskan outfit BK Häcken.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder has agreed to a deal that runs until the end of the current season, with an option for a one-year extension.

Ayinde returns to familiar territory, having previously featured in Sweden’s top flight with FC Rosengård.

Her career journey in Europe began in 2018 after stints in the United States and Belarus, before spells with Asarum and Eskilstuna.

She joined Rosengård in the summer of 2022 and went on to win league titles in 2022 and 2024.

BK Häcken football director Martin Ericsson believes Ayinde’s vast experience will be a major asset to the team.

“It is a player with great experience who is joining us now. Hali is qualified and knows what it takes to play at the highest level and achieve success,” he told the club’s official website.

“She is a fast player who is confident with the ball, signed as a six but who can also play in the defensive line. We wish her a warm welcome to Bollklubben.”

Reacting to her move, Ayinde said she is eager to grow and compete for more silverware at her new club.

“It feels like this is the right place for me to continue developing but also compete and win more titles with the team,” she said.

“I am a happy person who works hard. When I am on the field, I always want to give my best and contribute with leadership. I am also not a player who is easy to predict, but I have a lot in my game.”

On the international scene, the former Delta Queens midfielder brings a wealth of experience, having lifted the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations trophy three times with Nigeria and featured at two FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.
