Super Eagles winger, Samuel Kalu, has committed his future to Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The new deal ends speculation surrounding the 28-year-old’s future, with Bulgarian rivals Levski Sofia and several Swiss clubs reportedly interested in signing him during the transfer window.
Botev Plovdiv moved quickly to secure Kalu’s long-term stay following an impressive debut campaign with the Yellow and Blacks.
The Nigerian joined the two-time Bulgarian champions last summer after leaving English Championship side Watford.
He featured in 26 matches across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, scoring two goals while establishing himself as one of the club’s key attacking players.
Before arriving in Bulgaria, Kalu played for Slovak club AS Trenčín, Belgian side KAA Gent, French outfit Girondins Bordeaux, and Watford.
On the international stage, Kalu made his Super Eagles debut against Seychelles in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on September 8, 2018.
Since then, he has earned 17 caps for Nigeria, scoring two goals for the three-time African champions.
