A former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu, has called on ex-President Muhammadu Buhari to stop making false claims about his wealth.
In a post on X, Odinkalu advised the former president to stop deceiving the public now that he is no longer seeking office.
Before running for office, Buhari had claimed that his wealth was modest, stating that he owned only 150 cows and a family house in Katsina.
However, in a speech last week, he stated that his family’s income came solely from two rented houses in Kaduna State.
He also maintained that he did not corruptly enrich himself during his presidency.
Odinkalu responded by stating that Buhari no longer had any reason to continue making false claims about his personal wealth.
However, in his post on X, Odinkalu said, “Someone should please tell Muhammadu Buhari that he is no longer running for the office of Messiah, therefore, no longer has any need to keep lying about his earthly acquisitions.”
