Sowore dares Wike, vows protest at FCT

The 2023 AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has challenged Minister Nyesom Wike’s declaration that Abuja is off-limits for protests on August 1.

Sowore insisted that the planned #EndBadGovernance protests will commence in Abuja, despite Wike’s announcement that the day has been reserved for a ceremony honouring traditional rulers.

Sowore, in a post on his X handle on Friday, said the proposed nationwide protests will start in Abuja.

He said, “It is starting from and in Abuja!”

The protests, scheduled for August 1-10, aim to address concerns over hunger and rising inflation in Nigeria.

Sowore’s defiance comes as Wike attempted to ban protests in Abuja, citing a prior engagement for the Chairmen of the six Area Councils to present certificates to traditional rulers.

The faceless organizers of the protests remain undeterred, with Sowore affirming that the demonstration will proceed as planned in Abuja.
